Welcome to Burlington Probus Club

A social club for retired businessmen, fostering friendship and networking within the international Probus community.

Our Chairman Eric Butterworth and Past Chairman Stewart Mitchell

Hi, we are the Burlington Probus Club which now incorporates Bridlington Probus.

A part of Probus International, there are thousands of clubs like ours around the world.

As a group of retired businessmen we get together twice a month during our season from September to April each year to enjoy meetings with speakers from a wide range of organisations, charities and other interest groups as well as quizzes, lunches and day trips.

Joining our club is simplicity itself. You are welcome to come as a guest by calling anyone on the "Contact " page and if you feel that membership is for you, our secretary will provide you with all the information you need.

You can also request a call back, just leave your number on our Contact page and we will get back to you as soon as possible. We look forward to seeing you.

BURLINGTON PROBUS WISHES ALL ITS MEMBERS AND THEIR FAMILIES A HAPPY, HEALTHY AND PROSPEROUS NEW YEAR.

Hello everyone, our club Christmas lunch was on Tuesday last week. The speaker Robert Amos was brilliant as he usually is. The meal at the Expanse was very good with no complaints on food or service.

It’s been a long year with many things happening in the club.

At the AGM we adopted a new idea of a club charity. The first voted in was Prostate Cancer Research – we put our odd pence into the pink box. I chose pink to stand out – subtlety isn’t warranted. Not sure of amount received so far, I will ask John at our next committee meeting 2nd January.

Our membership stands currently at 30. Jim the membership secretary advises he has a maybe couple of more, time will see.

Contact with other clubs nearby continues, Filey we have strong ties with, Hunmanby but not strong at present. I have just managed to regain contact with Driffield and hope to go to one of their meetings in New Year.

Mike has setup the website with the new hosting company – we saved a shed load of money moving and because of Black Friday deals get a extensive access. Please look at it and let him know of any errors or ideas regarding content (mikegold1@me.com). www.burlingtonprobus.co.uk.

I am struggling to fill in the informal meeting days for January, February and March. Getting speakers this close is almost nil. I was hoping some of you would step-up and talk to club about your life and career and anything amusing. We have a very eclectic membership and I am sure some of you have had an interesting life. I have available some videos that can be shown.

Does anyone think we should have a club outing? Last one was at The Whisky distillery at Hunmanby but I am sure there are many places close to home that would be interesting.

Also please give some positive vibes to our treasurer John Ford (aka Tom Cruise - little in joke there) who had a fall early this month and broke his nose. He had it set straight last Friday and now 14 pieces of plaster are stoping it from moving. Daphne despite her own health is the good nurse. Get well soon John.

On behalf of the committee, I would like to wish you and your families a Merry Christmas and enjoyable New Year.

Hope to see you all 14 January (subscription day) – ladies are invited to this one.

Chris Langley: Secretary. Tel: 07707 935206.
